2020 Ford Mustang High Performance Package Review
Driving is believing and the EcoBoost Mustang is a highly entertaining machine despite having only half the cylinders. And for the 2020 model year Ford is blessing their most balanced Pony car with a new high performance package that includes a specially tuned 2.3-liter engine from the recently departed AWD Focus RS. Enlarging the twin-scroll turbo, improving engine cooling and calibrating its electronics to run with either a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic, this Mustang generates an additional 20 horsepower and a broader 350 pound-feet of torque. With 330 horses in total, this Mustang is designed to run 0-to-60mph in the mid-4s on premium gas with an increased top speed of 155mph. The active exhaust system has also been tuned for its own signature sound. Furthermore, the Performance Package adds brakes from the Mustang GT, aerodynamic upgrades and uprated suspension and chassis components. There’s new tuning for the steering, summer tires and an available Handling Package with MagenRide dampers, a Torsen Limited Slip differential, wider Pirelli tires and a thicker rear sway bar. Offering 4 new colors including Twisted Orange, the 2020 Ford Mustang with the 2.3L High Performance Package arrives this fall.
2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Review
The current Shelby GT350 is the most incredible Mustang I’ve ever driven, with its 5.2-liter V8 making beautiful and rebellious sounds. But arriving this fall is a Mustang that aims to deliver even more outrageousness. Meet the 2020 Shelby GT500; with more than 700 horsepower, a 0-to-60mph time in the mid 3s and a sub-11-second quarter mile. This most powerful street-legal Ford ever packs the heat of a hand-built 5.2-liter supercharged V8 teamed to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that shifts faster than any manual gearbox. It’s been engineered with a number of drive modes including normal, slippery, sport, drag and track including a line-lock feature. Active chassis technology combines with a MagnaRide suspension, custom Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and massive 16.5” rotors stifled by 6-piston Brembo brakes to deliver a Shelby that offers the highest-ever lateral acceleration from a Mustang for hero track performance. Two available handling packages include items such as adjustable strut mounts and a spoiler with Gurney flap. A carbon fiber track package with 20” carbon fiber wheels and rear seat delete save weight. Though it’s hardcore to the bone the GT500 doesn’t forgo creature comforts; for example there’s a custom-tuned 12-speaker B&O Play audio system and an 8” touchscreen. Recaro racing seats are optional. Specific figures and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
