2019 Lexus UX Review

The UX is pioneering new ground for Lexus. As an all-new 2019 model, it becomes the brand’s most affordable vehicle, its most fuel efficient non-electrified vehicle, its smallest SUV and the first Lexus to be offered through a subscription plan. A little larger than its Toyota counterpart the CH-R, Lexus has created the UX as an urban explorer from which its name is derived. Designed to appeal to young buyers, the UX is priced from the low $30ks delivering 33mpg in mixed driving on regular unleaded. Built upon a new Lexus platform that’s engineered to be lightweight yet rigid with a very low center of gravity riding upon a suspension tuned for exemplary handling and ride comfort, the UX is a do-it-all kind of vehicle. The front-drive UX 200 is powered by a 169 horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder working through a new breed of continuously variable transmission that affords a more direct driving feel while the UX 250H employs a 181 horsepower gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive and nets 39mpg in combined driving for only $2,000 more. Both models are equipped with Drive Mode Select with Normal, Eco and Sport modes. Speaking of which, the UX can also be specified as an F-SPORT in both varieties with a tighter suspension, unique 18” wheels, special grille design and exclusive interior appointments with Active Sound Control for a more dynamic sounding driving experience. A touchpad, not touchscreen, controls the either 7” or 10+” infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay compatibility.
