The plug-in model also allows for more options and with the ability to run solely on electric power at ratings of 95 MPGe. In EV mode, the Prius hybrid functions solely on electric power (speed and miles permitting), while the Power mode setting delivers the full potential of the gasoline engine assisted by the electric motor. The Eco mode setting is probably the most useful of the three, allowing the Prius' computer to modify the throttle response for the best balance of fuel consumption and performance. The Toyota Prius hybrid hatchback features an interior as modern and different as its exterior. The available Solar Roof is embedded with solar panels that can power a fan to circulate ambient air through the cabin when parked in direct sunlight. The contoured dash looks particularly handsome with its 2-tone panels. The Prius' sheet metal is designed to cheat the wind, with sharp-edged creases and flush glass panels. Even the car's wheel covers are aerodynamic. 2015 Toyota Prius v Review

The Prius v – also known as the “big Prius” – has been restyled for 2015. The ‘v’ stands for versatility and that’s exactly what this gas-electric hybrid delivers. Flaunting more cargo space than most small SUVs, Toyota designed this Prius variant with a 3” longer wheelbase, stretching the vehicle 6” overall. And with the Hybrid Synergy Drive returning 42mpg combined, the Prius v is a midsize station wagon with an eye on efficiency. This year, Toyota imbues the v with a sportier attitude by revising the front and rear styling and adding 3 striking new colors. Available LED projector low- and high-beam headlights contribute to the newfound edge. Inside, new Entune Audio systems offer more multimedia capabilities with an upgraded Advanced Technology Package. And who doesn’t appreciate an 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar – also available this year. A 1.8-liter 4-cylinder gas engine is augmented by an electric motor to combine for 134 net system horsepower via an electric variable transmission. Four driving modes plus automatic start/stop helps to further reduce fuel consumption in urban driving. The nickel-metal hydride battery pack is the same as in the Prius liftback. Base price is $27,500 for the Prius v 2 while a range topping Prius v 5 retails for $31,760.
