2016 Chevrolet Cruze Review

When it went on sale in 2008, the Cruze finally provided Chevrolet a highly competitive model in the hotly contested compact sedan segment. Round 2 starts in 2016 with an all-new Cruze; larger, lighter and faster with a more dynamic driving experience, according to Chevy. Now that the Malibu is getting bigger, the Cruze has room to grow too, now nearly 3” longer affording more rear leg and knee room. A sleeker design with wind-cheating aerodynamics, the new Cruze utilizes a lighter steel body and a new turbocharged engine with auto start/stop to achieve an estimated 40mpg highway when paired with the available 6-speed automatic transmission. A 6-speed manual is standard. Until the new Diesel model arrives in 2017, the sole engine is a 1.4-liter turbo-4 making 153 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The increased output leads to a 0-to-60mph time of 8.0-seconds, making it one of the quickest cars in the class. Technology fans will welcome the addition of the all-new Chevy MyLink infotainment unit, now with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – systems that turn the center screen into an extension of your smartphone for easier, safer connectivity. Wireless phone charging is also new for 2016. And of course it’s offered with OnStar with 4G LTE and built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. A more sophisticated machine with premium offerings small car owners now demand such as optional heated rear seats and advanced safety features, the 2016 Cruze is offered in a new model range beginning with L, LS, LT and Premier as well as a more expressive RS package with its own unique, sporty appearance.
