2019 Kia Sorento Review
One of Kia’s best-sellers has gone under the knife for the 2019 model year. The brand’s biggest crossover shows off refreshed styling, an enhanced cabin, more driver assistance features and increasingly efficient drivetrains. The subtle facelift provides a tighter, sharper appearance featuring a new headlamp configuration specific to the various trim levels. The rear fascia sports a new bumper design, sleeker taillamps, a revised liftagate and sportier muffler tip. Inside, 7-passenger 3-row seating is now standard on all trims and the tech is ratcheted up with available wireless device charging, a new 630-watt, 10-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system and the addition of Driver Attention Warning and Lane Keeping Assist to the arsenal of advanced safety features which now come standard on Sorento EX trims and higher. Available in front- or all-wheel drive, the Sorento’s powertrain offerings consist of a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with a revised 6-speed automatic delivering 185 horsepower and the 3.3-liter V6 mated to a new 8-speed automatic generating 290 horsepower. Towing capacity remains at 5,000 lbs. when equipped with all-wheel drive. The 2.0-liter turbo is no longer being offered and will soon be replaced by a new diesel engine offering. To simplify the drive, the Sorento replaces the Drive Mode Select setup with what Kia calls Smart Shift & Drive, automatically selecting the optimum drive mode based on driving style. Available in 5 trim levels, the 2019 Sorento arrives in showrooms early this year.
