2018 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack Review
As the taller sibling of the Golf SportWagen, the Golf Alltrack with 4Motion all-wheel drive as standard is the wagon for adventure seekers. Raised by .6” and featuring its own, unique suspension tuning with hill decent control and an Off Road driving mode, the Alltrack is ready to tackle a variety of terrain. For the 2018 model year, this Golf iteration receives freshened styling with LEDs front and rear and inside, there are new, larger touchscreen infotainment systems. This 8” unit is brighter than the previous generation with better color reproduction, response time and improved viewing angles. New on Golf Alltrack is an emergency braking system called Maneuver Braking. Included with ParkPilot, it can help mitigate or prevent collisions with static obstacles to the front and rear while the vehicle is maneuvered. A standard feature on all 2018 Alltrack models is the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, applying the brakes when a primary collision is detected by the airbag sensors, thus helping to reduce residual kinetic energy and, in turn, the chance of additional damage. The Alltrack shares its 1.8-liter turbo-4 with the other Golf models producing 170 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque, offered with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with the later delivering the best fuel economy of 22mpg city/30mpg highway on regular. Also unique to the Alltrack is a larger fuel tank affording an over 360 mile driving range. S, SE and SEL trims are priced from just under $27,000
