2016 Scion iM Review

The lull in new product at Scion has come to an end. Their first all-new car since the 2012 launch of the FR-S is the 2016 iM; Scion’s answer for young buyers looking for a sporty hatchback on a budget with an MSRP of under $20,000 for a fully equipped mono-spec model that Scion says is like an upgrade model from competitors. The hot hatch segment is heating up once again and Scion is arming their accessories catalog with a line of TRD products for enthusiasts such as an air intake system, anti-roll bar, lowering springs and more. Belying its 37mpg highway mileage is a rev-happy 137-horsepower 1.8-liter 4-cylinder with Valvematic variable valve timing. A 6-speed manual is standard while an optional sport-tuned CVT is optional. And when it comes to the hustle, the iM makes use of an up-level double-wishbone rear suspension and a high-strength body structure used in the tC sports coupe to stimulate the driver. Scion keeps the iM stocked too; making sure the one spec strategy satisfies all owners. There’s a 7” infotainment screen with HD Radio and Aha, a backup cam, dual-zone climate control, power folding mirrors, LED running lights, and auto headlights. Do you take your pet with you?
