2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Review
Who says SUVs have to be boring to drive? Certainly not Fiat Chrysler who is packing a 1-2 punch for the 2018 model year like we’ve never seen before. Following the introduction of the new Dodge Durango SRT is this Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. It’s only the most powerful and quickest SUV ever. With Hellcat power, this Jeep brings serious heat: 707 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque. It’s matched to an upgraded TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission and stops with the power of new Brembo brakes; the largest ever on a Jeep. Bolstered by various upgraded driveline components and a Bilstein adaptive damping suspension, this grandest of Grand Cherokees is capable of a blistering 0-60mph time of 3.5 seconds, an 11.6 second quarter mile and a top speed of 180 mph. A new Torque Reserve system provides improved engine response and quicker acceleration in Launch Control Mode. The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 has been engineered for extreme conditions durability and the Quadra-Trac on-demand all-wheel drive system uses a wider chain in the transfer case for added strength. The Selec-Track system on the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk uses performance-tuned software to pre-configure and distinguish the five dynamic modes, including: Auto, Sport, Track, Snow and Tow, enabling drivers to choose a vehicle setting that ideally meets their requirements. The drive modes separately control the four-wheel-drive system, transmission, paddle shifters, suspension and the electric power steering, including a 30/70 torque split for track driving and max towing of 7,200 pounds. A Valet Mode limits performance for times when the Trackhawk is out of your hands. If hitting an apex is more attractive to you than hitting the trail, check this Jeep out later in 2017.
