2020 Nissan LEAF Review

Since its launch in 2010, the Nissan LEAF has been one of the best-selling electric vehicles in the world. Last year, the longer range LEAF PLUS joined the lineup offering up to 226 miles of total driving and now for the 2020 model year the entire LEAF lineup receives a number of enhancements including expanded and enhanced standard safety features, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for all trim levels, and cool new pedestrian safety sounds with greater volume to let those around the car know the LEAF is present. The base LEAF S with a 40kWh battery delivers 149 miles of range starting at $32,525 while a top-of-the-line, fully loaded LEAF SL PLUS with the 226 mile battery stickers for $44,825 – both prices are before the $7,500 federal tax credit. The LEAF PLUS powertrain also allows faster acceleration when driving at high speeds. And, thanks to a standard 100kW capacity quick charging system, this model can charge faster and more efficiently.
With a 25 percent increase in energy density and the increase in energy storage capacity (versus the 40 kWh LEAF), the 62 kWh LEAF PLUS battery pack is almost the same size and configuration as the 40 kWh pack in the standard LEAF. Other than a 0.2-inch increase in overall height (16-inch wheels), the car’s exterior and interior dimensions are unchanged.
