2019 Subaru Outback Review
After undergoing revised styling last year imbued with a more rugged character and a refreshed interior with more premium materials, the Subaru Outback drives into the 2019 model year with a few new goodies. EyeSight Driver Assist Technology – including Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Departure Warning and Assist is now standard on all models. The Base Outback 2.5i gains standard dual USB ports up front and the high-grade instrument panel can now be found on all Outbacks. Already on sale, the 2019 Outback is priced from $27,320 including destination. 2.5i models are available in base, Premium, Limited and Touring trims while the Outback 3.6R is available in Limited and Touring only. The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder BOXER engine makes 175 horsepower and the 3.6-liter 6-cylinder BOXER engine produces 256. Both are paired to continuously variable transmissions that were retuned last year for smoother responses. Further enhancements included retuned suspension dampers for a smoother ride, along with retuned steering and brake systems for a more direct feel and a more enjoyable driving experience. The 2.5i is rated at 28 mpg and the 3.6R at 22mpg in combined driving. With nearly 9” of ground clearance, all-wheel drive and an X-Mode that increases 4-wheel traction, the Outback is renowned for its go anywhere capabilities and its generous cargo room.
